"If we are allowed to laugh--and we do--it is because the Star Trek obsessives in the film are generally a benign, often-creative bunch. ...this is a mostly compassionate look at a largely misunderstood subculture. As one Trekkie points out, "If you dress in the jersey of your favorite athlete, you're a regular guy. If you dress in the costume of a Starship Captain, you're a nut. Good point."
